It's hard to find a game that, having ambitions of being an educational game, would not lose its ludic/entertainment value. Even more difficulta game that is so readable and attractive for everyonewould consistently and successfully combine both perspectives.

HEX Integration is a board game based on the idea of a "hero's journey" thanks to which everyone will find outhow important cooperation is in the context of building interpersonal relationships, and how much more valuable it can be than competition. HEX Integration is a game that may turn out to be - and I am inclined to believe that it will turn out to be - an attractive experience for students and a cognitively valuable teaching aid that will be gladly used by those interested in searching forinnovative teaching/teaching strategies teachers of both science and humanities. The fact that the intention of the game's designers was to encourage the sharing of the gaming experience of children from Poland and Ukraine, which is supported by the game's bilingualism, also deserves recognition.

As a pedagogue interested in the didactic potential of gamesI sincerely encourage everyone to play together, at any age. HEX Integration is an example of a game that proves how important and culture-creating fun together is.

Johan Huizinga, a classic of ludology, said that all abstractions can be negated, seriousness can be negated, but fun cannot. And this intuition fits the board game HEX Integrationaimed at integrating Polish and Ukrainian children. The creators of the game, reaching for fun as a mode of integration, reached the foundations of culture, and thus enabled children to have good moments in their new home. The demand for this type of education is growing, but certainly this game can be considered another important building block.

Cooperation can be learned all your life, but only those who are truly open to it will understand its meaning. That is why it is so important to teach it from childhood using itthe best scientific tool, i.e. fun. After all, as the American physiotherapist Glenn Doman recalled,“Play is learning, learning is play. The more fun, the more learning.

Russia's aggression against Ukraine has changed the world we live in. Among the countless consequences of these events is thatThe Polish education system has faced one of the biggest challenges for years– and perhaps the biggest since the transformation: how to include young people from Ukraine in the education system? The game "Hex Integration" is a specific response to the needs of teachers - and students– who are looking for an answer to this question on a daily basis.
